Arsenal news and transfers LIVE: Medical booked, Rice bid, Timber offer (2024)

The summer transfer window continues its old tricks, with twists and turns aplenty for all the clubs involved in it. Arsenal may know that better than many, having seen their move for Declan Rice seemingly hijacked by rivals Manchester City, who are hopeful of landing the midfielder.

football.london understands that reports of a bid from the Cityzens are premature, while the Gunners are expected to make their third offer soon. Elsewhere, football.london understands that Kai Havertz is set to have his Arsenal medical this weekend ahead of a proposed switch from Chelsea.

Jurrien Timber looks as though he could be another signing for the north London club in the coming weeks after agreeing personal terms. Meanwhile, outgoings seem likely too, with Kieran Tierney, Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Folarin Balogun, Auston Trusty, Nicolas Pepe, Eddie Nketiah and Charlie Patino all linked with switches.

Speaking on the Five YouTube channel, Ornstein said: “If Declan Rice doesn’t come off, which Arsenal may not be focusing on at this point because they’re focused so heavily on him, but if the worst case scenario happens they have a recruitment team who may look at Caicedo or others, we have seen Romeo Lavia linked quite heavily, I’m not sure of that one developing at this moment in time, but that could change in seconds or minutes.”
